Singapore, 17 March 2009 – NEC Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation will unveil a revolutionary Digital Latent Processor (DLP) with Integra ID™ at the Global Security Asia 2009.
NEC Automated Fingerprint System (AFIS) serves some of the largest fingerprint systems in the world, making NEC the leading provider of AFIS technology for law enforcement.
Latent processing is a procedure used in law enforcers to identify criminal identity from the fingerprints left behind at a crime scene. The traditional procedure of latent processing is manual and cumbersome; hence law enforcement agencies usually restrict this process to serious crimes only.
With DLP, NEC combines its extensive AFIS experience with its pioneering research in the field of latent processing to bring about a convenient and integrated solution to ease the burden of these law enforcers and help fight crimes.
The NEC Integra ID™ is the next generation service oriented architecture AFIS which incorporates NEC’s latest biometrics matching algorithms for greater speed, accuracy, flexibility and scalability. This enables the law enforcement agencies to adopt an integrated solution which allows them to tap into resources of other states and countries. Coupled with the application of a digital latent print (DLP) scanner, latent processing can now be simple and swift process.
Primary applications of Integra ID™ & DLP
Integra ID™ is an end to end AFIS solution developed over NEC SOA Data Exchange Framework. (DXF) The solution uses NEC’s latest fingerprint and palm print technologies to provide scalable, high accuracy and high performance system to meet both criminal and civil identification/investigation requirements. Additional key benefits of the system include:
DLP is an application developed over DXF to process and archive latent from the field, this application can be used as an investigation/identification/pre-screening tool. The system has following key benefits:
Mr Kris Ranganath, Director of Systems Architecture, NEC Corporation of America, explains, “Progress in automated latent processing technology will significantly strengthen national security as it expedites watch-list creation and search. In the recent NIST Evaluation of Latent Fingerprint Technology (ELFT07) NEC has once again demonstrated its technology leadership in biometrics industry. Though DLP and Integra ID™ is a start, NEC will continue to release products that will bring this technology to day to day practical use to fight crime and terrorism.”
Mr Tan Boon Chin, Senior Vice President of NEC Asia adds, “Security Intelligence, Identification and Investigation are all key components of law enforcement, investigation being the most established and proven component of all. Key success factor includes fast yet accurate forensic investigation. NEC’s Digital Latent Print System makes the collection of Fingerprint Evidence a much faster and easier job with the use of proven imaging technology. Coupled with NEC’s AFIS system – Integra ID™ – NEC presents the world leading AFIS Solution.”
The innovative integration of both DLP scanner and NEC Integra ID™ will be on showcase at NEC booth (#805).
Being an innovator and leader of biometrics development in NEC USA, Mr. Ranganath is also one of the invited Conference keynote participants at the GSA 2009 Conference. Mr. Ranganath will be presenting on the topic of Automated latent processing technology – current progress and practical application of this technology to fight national security threats on 18 March 2009 (from 9am to 10:45am).
