SINGAPORE, 31 March 2011 – NEC Asia Pacific, a leading IT and network solutions provider and systems integrator based in Singapore, and a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation (HQ: Japan) is donating S$52,030.00 to the Singapore Red Cross, in aid of the earthquake-tsunami disaster in Japan on 11 March 2011. This is part of the "NEC Make-a-Difference Drive"(*) to donate to the local Red Cross, NPO and NGO branches across the world, in aid of this disaster.
Employees from NEC Asia Pacific pooled S$26,015.00 in the one-week voluntary donation drive, which ended on 24 March 2011. NEC Asia Pacific, in turn, matched dollar-for-dollar to the employees’ donation, resulting in a total donation of S$52,030.00.
Mr Kiyofumi Kusaka, CEO, NEC Asia Pacific, said, “Being a Japanese company, we share the agony of those who are suffering in the aftermath of this massive disaster. Here in Singapore, I am heartened by the support and contributions of our staff who have so willingly come forward to make a donation to support the community in Japan. We hope our contributions (via the Singapore Red Cross) will help bring some relief and comfort to the disaster victims.”
NEC would like to extend its sincere sympathy and condolences to all who were personally affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan and to provide its support for a rapid recovery in the affected areas.
