NEC Asia Pacific launches new solutions for digital content distribution

Latest technologies showcased at “ Digital Signage World Asia 2010” and “Kiosk & Self Service World Asia 2010” exhibitions

SINGAPORE, 9 November 2010NEC Asia Pacific (“NEC APAC”), a leading IT and network solutions provider and systems integrator based in Singapore, and a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation (“NEC”; HQ: Japan) is launching a suite of new products and solutions at the “Digital Signage World Asia 2010” and “Kiosk & Self Service World Asia 2010” (Suntec Singapore, Exhibition Hall 404, booth C19 and A13), to cater to a growing digital content distribution market in the Asia Pacific.

The digital signage display market is expected to see robust growth from its current size through 2012, due to falling prices of digital signage hardware and the growing popularity of LCD displays over plasma screens[1].

Shifting attention from traditional mass media towards Digital Signage medium
With the increasing reliance on the Internet and growing demand for real-time information on-the-go, traditional mass media as an advertising medium has seen steady decline over the years. Instead, retailers are now seeking alternative advertising mediums to deliver engaging content that is relevant to the specific target audience, at the right place, at the right time, thus fuelling the demand for digital signages. Digital signage solution, which can capture the right audience via intelligent viewer analysis system, is a highly customer-centric medium that can influence customers’ shopping behaviour at the point of purchase. Additionally, digital signage sets itself apart from the traditional Point-of-Purchase (POP) advertisements by its ability to dynamically adapt its content as and when relevant to the changing customer profiles, wherever the customers may be in the particular retail location.

·Interactive kiosk solutions: Ticketing & Payment Kiosk, Membership Registration Kiosk, and Queue Management Kiosk

NEC’s digital signage solutions are equipped with content management software “NEC PanelDirector”, can be combined with NEC’s FieldAnalyst, which allows visitor attributes such as age, gender and people count to be analyzed automatically by communicating with the digital signage system. It enables total number of people interested in a particular corresponding advertisement to be analyzed automatically, empowering administrators to improve contents based on the “PDCA” (“Plan, Do, Check, Action”) cycle, allowing for speedy and efficient information collection of customer analysis.

Interactive kiosk solutions provide end-users with self-service access to specific products and/or services. Such systems allows a service-provider to offer uninterrupted 24/7 services, thus greater convenience to its end-customers; while achieving better time and resources management and minimizing costs without having to run 24/7 operations.
