Kuala Lumpur, 17 July 2008 - Best Denki Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“Best Denki”), a Japanese electronics retail giant, has opted for NEC Corporation of Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“NEC Corporation of Malaysia”) latest compact touch screen Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal (TWINPOS3500G1) to be implemented at all its 13 retail outlets in Malaysia, including its latest branch at Plaza Gurney and 2 more new outlets by end of this year .
Investing in more than RM 1.5 million in total to upgrade its existing POS system hardware, Best Denki will be the first company in Malaysia to use NEC’s TWINPOS3500G1 POS terminal. NEC Corporation of Malaysia will be implementing the new POS terminals at the Best Denki retail outlets in several phases, with the first phase to commence by the 3rd quarter of 2008.
The TWINPOS3500G1 is the latest compact touch-screen, keyboard-less and hard disk-free POS terminal developed by NEC, and it is able to withstand tough retail environments such as temperature, water spill and dust, which are typical challenges for retail IT. Being hard disk-free, the TWINPOS3500G1 will be more energy-efficient and generate less heat, thus more environmentally friendly. The TWINPOS3500G1 can also be integrated with NEC’s mobility solutions and business intelligence tools.
The sales data generated from this POS terminal will enable Best Denki to improve its businesses and respond faster to market demands and changes, and conduct business intelligence activities, such as analyzing its customers’ purchasing behavior, and thus improve its customer relationship management programmes. The compact size POS terminal also takes up less space, thus allowing Best Denki to manage its precious retail floor area more efficiently.
“In line with technology progress, Best Denki as an electronics retailer, is also moving towards improving our operational efficiency with the installation of the latest POS terminals, which will bring about a greater shopping experience for our customers,” says Mr Kazuhiro Kakura, managing director of Best Denki Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
“NEC is proud to be the preferred provider of retail solutions for Best Denki. With NEC’s vast experience in providing support to our customers in the retail industry, we are confident that Best Denki is able to fully optimize our reliable POS terminals to improve its inventory management to manage consumer demands, and ultimately, resulting in better sales,” said Mr Daisaku Takeuchi, managing director of NEC Corporation of Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
