Tokyo, Japan, March 30, 2010 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today an enhanced hospitality IP based multi-function phone, the "UNIVERGE IP Phone DT750," with plans for worldwide distribution. As the initial customer, NEC has installed approximately 200 units of the "UNIVERGE IP DT750" in all guest rooms at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo.
Enhanced features of the "UNIVERGE IP DT750" are as follows:
1. Newly designed button kit for hotel rooms
NEC designed a unique button kit specialized for guest rooms. This kit includes various buttons such as "Message," "Operator," and "Conference" for carrying out a range of services in one-touch. Button designs may be altered to match with their surroundings.
2. Improving customer service by addressing specific guest needs
The telephone handset has a LCD touch screen with the capability and size to run XML applications. It provides important information for guests such as background on hotel facilities, world time, weather and flight information. The XML application is also able to handle multiple languages such as Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, German and French, which is determined by the guest's preferred language code from the hotel's property management system. NEC can easily co-develop such applications with application partners as the system is based on XML, which enables customization for a broad range of client needs. An automatic function that turns off the phone's LCD is activated when the phone is not in use for a predetermined period of time. This is to ensure that guests remain comfortable while asleep and are not disturbed by the screen's illumination.
3. Teleconference function for business needs
The phone has a one-touch three party conference call button that bridges calls, including guestrooms, external domestic and international participants. It also has a full duplex speakerphone for hands-free calls, conveniently providing an in-room teleconference facility for business travelers.
