NEC Philippines welcomes new President

MANILA, 4 MAY 2010 – NEC Philippines, Inc (“NEC Philippines”), a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, welcomed today Mr Takuo Shioda as its new President, who will head the subsidiary with effect from 1 May.

Mr Shioda, who has been working in NEC since 1988, has served at several NEC overseas subsidiaries (outside Japan) prior to taking on his latest role as President. He brings with him more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience in telecommunications products and IT solutions, and is a veteran in the telecommunications sector in this region. Mr Shioda takes over from Mr Kiyofumi Kusaka, the previous President, who will focus on his role as the CEO for NEC Asia Pacific based in Singapore.

NEC Philippines was incorporated with NEC Corporation Manila Branch, another NEC branch office in the Philippines on 1 April 2010. Under this new arrangement, NEC Corporation Manila Branch which specializes in providing carrier network solutions and services, was reorganized as a business unit of NEC Philippines.

The realignment of NEC’s operations in the Philippines is in line with the “One NEC” concept listed in the Mid-Term Growth Plan set by NEC Corporation, which seeks to realign and integrate its regional subsidiaries so as to establish a stronger presence in their respective regions, and in compliance with corporate governance policies.

“NEC has a strong footprint and rich customer base in Philippines. At the same time, we still have a large potential to further grow our presence in this competitive environment. I believe that NEC Philippines will take an important role in the region for NEC to achieve its targets set out in our V2012 .” says Mr Shioda.
