SINGAPORE, 15 September 2010 – NEC Asia Pacific (NEC APAC), a leading IT and network solutions provider and systems integrator based in Singapore, and a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation (HQ: Tokyo, Japan), announced its participation in the Singapore ICT Day seminar in Kathmandu, Nepal today.
In collaboration with International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce (FNCCI), the seminar will feature Singapore-based companies who will share their perspectives on how Singapore has transformed into a First World city through Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) over the years.
NEC APAC, which established its first office in Singapore in 1977, has contributed extensively to the progress of Singapore through the implementation of its avant-garde technologies. From the first satellite earth station in Sentosa island in 1971 to the first Auto Clearance System for the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoint Authority in 1996, NEC’s technologies that were implemented across several industries have benefited the Singapore economy and the development of the nation, making it one of the most technology-savvy country in the world.
NEC APAC is represented at this seminar by Mr Alfred Tan, Regional Director for NEC APAC Developing Market Group. He will share with the Nepalese business community about the NEC experience of how Singapore has transformed through NEC’s C&C - Computers and Communications.
He added, “NEC APAC has already established its presence in Nepal since 2000, through the partnership with some local Nepalese companies. Being a corporation that is passionate about innovation, NEC hopes to bring its leading technologies to improve the lives of the Nepalese community”.
