BANGKOK, 29 April 2011 – NEC group of companies in Thailand have jointly collected and donated THB269,597 to the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, in support of relief efforts in Japan following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. This contribution is part of the "NEC Make-a-Difference Drive" (*) in support of worldwide Red Cross, NPO and NGO branch donations towards recovery efforts from this disaster.
Employees from the five NEC companies based in Thailand contributed to this charity drive, including: (1) NEC Corporation (Thailand) Ltd (60,542 baht); (2) NEC Infrontia Thai Limited (88,710 baht); (3) NEC Logistics (Thailand) Co., Ltd (33,270 baht); (4) NEC TOKIN Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd (73,075 baht); and (5) NESIC (Thailand) Ltd (14,000 baht).
On behalf of the NEC companies in Thailand, Mr. Shin Sakamoto, President at NEC Corporation (Thailand), said, “NEC, being a Japanese company, we are particularly sensitive to the hardships of those impacted by this massive disaster. I am heartened and thankful for the support and contributions of all our staff in Thailand, who have come forth to donate and help the community in Japan. We hope our contributions (via the Embassy of Japan in Thailand) will help bring some relief and comfort to the families and communities affected by this disaster.”
