NEC announces its Latest Release of Transport Network Management System, MS5000New MS5000 gives network operators control over all layers and connection types in backhaul providing better service assurance

Tokyo & London, May 10, 2011 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the latest release of its management platform for transport networks, the MS5000 Release 6.0, which provides end-to-end path management across all layers and equipment types in the backhaul – whether legacy or new – streamlining the running of microwave, optical, Ethernet, IP and TDM networks.

The MS5000 helps maintain high service availability and provides reliable networks with the ability to add capacity instantly, supporting the ‘Pay as You Grow’ approach. It provides path-provisioning and end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) management, granting SLA assurance and reducing both time-to-revenue and maintenance costs. This allows network operators to spot and complete preventative maintenance and network upgrades just-in-time with demand for additional services and capacity.

Release 6.0 of the MS5000 supports the full range of NEC transmission platforms, including the recently launched NEC iPASOLINK 1000 converged microwave and optical product for Mobile Backhaul aggregation. The MS5000 supports migration from one NEC product range to the next and provides lower total cost of ownership (TCO) as one Network Management System supports the entire NEC portfolio.

Hiroyasu Ishii, General Manager of Global Network Division, says: “As operators become ever reliant on fast roll-out and premium service delivery, the network management system is becoming an essential tool for network profitability. NEC’s MS5000 is already deployed in customer networks all over the world, and Release 6.0 enhances existing features with multi-layer path management for QoS, security, geographical redundancy, flexible northbound interface and simplified network element integration.”

MS5000 also provides additional operational benefits as it integrates with NEC’s NetCracker to deliver a comprehensive and market leading suite of OSS capabilities such as network planning and design, inventory tracking, and workflow management.

NEC will exhibit the MS5000 and iPASOLINK Series at the TNMO 2011(*) event taking place in London, May 10-12. At the stand, visitors can learn about NEC’s latest portfolio developments for Backhaul applications.
