NEC and Webroot Join Forces to Release New Mobile Security Products
Tokyo, February 2, 2012 – NEC and Webroot (*1) have announced an alliance in the mobile security technology area for the smartphone and tablet market. NEC and Webroot have successfully developed a comprehensive mobile device management solution, "NEC Mobile Security Pro," that encompasses everything from extensive anti-malware measures to a mobile device security layer. NEC is launching this solution for the telecommunications carrier market and utilizing Webroot channels in both the domestic and foreign markets.
The rapid expansion of smartphone and tablet markets worldwide, along with the advancement of mobile device capabilities, each represent potential for a mobile environment that caters to both business and personal needs. In terms of the corporate market, the need for a safe and secure mobile business environment that offers both high speed and efficiency has become a major topic.
The NEC-Webroot solution combines strengths that include NEC's Mobile Device Management (MDM *2) solution, "NC7000-DM Lite (*3)," system integration, customer support experience and cloud infrastructure, while Webroot contributes its advanced mobile device anti-malware (*4) solution, "Webroot SecureAnywhere Mobile Premiere." This latest "cloud-based integrated security solution" enables an all-in-one cloud-based security service for the rapidly expanding mobile sector in a package that is easy to install and offers a safe and secure, user-friendly business environment. The new mobile security product for consumers is scheduled to launch in February.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware security functions protect mobile devices without requiring heavy cpu usage. Cloud-based, 280 million function, secure browsing technology to prevent access to hazardous sites. Downloads, installs, and protects in seconds with no user configuration required and no impact on the customer experience.
Furthermore, this solution capitalizes on NEC's OMA (*5) compliant MDM product line, its cloud infrastructure featuring outstanding interconnectivity and its extensive system integration know-how, in combination with Webroot's highly reliable Endpoint Security product line. This enables the companies to mutually promote global business development of mobile internet security solutions, and to actively work towards a safe and worry-free mobile environment that increases customer satisfaction.
