NEC Presents Latest Identity Solutions at IFSEC 2012Integrated security solutions Empower Authorities to Make Cities Safer Using Technology
New Delhi, November 1, 2012 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701), a leading IT and network solutions provider, is presenting its latest range of public safety solutions for Citizen Services, Immigration Control, Law Enforcement; Critical Infrastructure Protection; Inter-Agency Collaboration; and Cyber Security at IFSEC 2012 held at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida (booth M1, Hall 5) from November 1-3, 2012. Themed “We Make Cities Safer”, the NEC exhibits will highlight how governments and businesses can leverage technologies to safeguard lives and property.
Debuting the latest generation of its renowned Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) at this IFSEC event, NEC AFIS (I) is the newest AFIS variant from NEC’s family of award-winning AFIS solutions, designed to be a highly configurable, scalable and cost-effective system to meet the diverse and complex needs of AFIS-users and countries with large geographical footprints.
Also unveiled at IFSEC 2012 is NEC’s Mobile Identification (Mobile ID). The futuristic mobility solution sees NEC’s NEOFACE Facial Recognition Engine deployed on Smartphone and Tablets for facial recognition. Facial images captured can either be used to perform matching on mobile devices themselves or sent to back end databases for screening.

• Fingerprint identification – AFIS (I)
NEC’s AFIS (I) employs NEC’s NIST (*1) proven Fingerprint Matching and Latent Processing Technology, allowing Law Enforcement Agencies to perform accurate criminal authentication, conduct effective post incident investigations and analysis.
• Mobile Identification
Utilizing NEC’s NEOFACE Facial Recognition Engine, NEC’s Mobile ID solution uses the latest Smartphones and Tablets to capture the photo of persons of interest for immediate, on the spot mobile screening against a database stored in the mobile device or at the backend.
• Facial recognition surveillance system incorporating wireless transmission
NEC’s award winning facial recognition surveillance system strengthens security and criminal investigations utilizing advanced face recognition technology to deliver accurate verification from facial image databases, regardless of age differences, race, face angle or lighting. The system can be combined with a 3G wireless module which offers fast video matching with ultra low wireless data transmission. The module allows more flexibility in the placement of CCTV cameras, especially in areas not covered by signal cabling. It can also be installed on police patrol vehicles for traffic and surveillance stops.
• Iris recognition
NEC incorporates leading iris related technology into its AFIS or Mobile ID offerings coupled with its award-winning AFIS and Facial Recognition Solution to offer customers a truly multi-modal biometrics system that offers unsurpassed accuracy and performance.
2. CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION
• High Sensitivity Camera
NEC’s high sensitivity camera (HSC) captures moving colour images in darkness, designed to serve as a night-time surveillance tool in a variety of applications, including critical high security installations and utility plants, as well as tracking illegal activities at sea or in seaports, allowing authorities to better monitor and detect irregularities in operations at night.
• Train Communications & Security
NEC, as a system integrator, is able to design and work with manufacturers to deliver on-site, install, test and commission a train communications system, including provision of equipment, field devices, cables, cable supports, enclosures, mounting accessories and power distribution that are required by the clients to carry out projects.
3. INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION
In the current Public Safety domain, security is more complex due to the increasing amount of data collected from videos, devices and sensors. NEC’s inter-agency collaboration (IAC) framework uses advanced technology tools to address the complex issues of collecting, analyzing and transmitting this phenomenal growth in data (“big data”) among agencies and then enhancing its value, enabling cross-agency cooperation to bring order to information.
4. CYBER SECURITY
