Hanoi, 11 November 2014 – NEC Vietnam, a leading infocommunications technology provider, today announced the launch of its first retail product line in Vietnam. The point-of-sale (POS) solutions consisting of energy-efficient retail terminals will help to streamline retail operations across a spectrum of sectors.
The retail products launched include the TWINPOS G5 and TWINPOS G7. The G5 is a touch screen POS system, while the G7 is compact modular POS. The systems, which enable retailers to achieve lower total cost-of-ownership, provide a choice of high-performance Intel processors, as well as energy efficient CPUs that meet NEC’s ‘Eco Symbol’ environmental standards*. A high performance Intel CPU model, the TWINPOS G5 52V1, will also be launched in Vietnam soon.
Benefits of the systems include the robust system design, which provides environmental durability for harsh retail environments, and hardware that enables simplified, tool-free component replacement, reducing time and costs for maintenance and servicing. The systems offer the smallest footprint amongst competing systems, with flexible and scalable configurations for quick and easy transport, set up and storage.
The systems will be distributed nationwide through leading Vietnamese distributors Digiland Co., Ltd. (Digiland) and Dinh Thien Co., Ltd. (APEX), to retailers in the food & beverage, retail chain store and specialty shop sectors. There are plans to integrate a range of retail management software with the systems to provide a total retail solution suite catering to different levels of retailers in the next phase of the rollout, as part of the retail business strategy.
“With the growing retail business in Vietnam, there is a need for high performance retail systems to support the needs of retailers here. We have over 30 years of delivering retail solutions to over 30,000 retail outlets globally, with a depth of experience implementing nationwide retail systems across Asia Pacific for leading retail chains. We look forward to working in partnership with retailers in Vietnam to help boost their productivity and to enhance their service for their customers,” said Keita Ito, General Director, NEC Vietnam.
The recent establishment of the Regional Retail Business Support Center (RBSC) within Asia Pacific, which helps formulate regional strategy and provides sales and technological support, is part of NEC’s efforts to expand its retail business in the region.
