NEC Solutions Asia Pacific showcased its Automatic Border Control and National Identification Solutions in India, New Delhi

NEW DELHI, INDIA, 21 September 2005 - NEC Solutions Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (NECSAP), a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, has showcased its Automatic Border Control solution and National Identification Systems in New Delhi, as it embarks on its solutions business expansion in India. This showcase was part of NECSAP’s presentation on “E-Governance: Involving & Revolving Around the Masses”, an inaugural Solution Seminar the company co-hosted with its strategic business partner in India, Zodiac Infocom Ltd on 21-22 September 2005. NECSAP signed a memorandum of understanding with Delhi based Zodiac Infocomm Limited to form a consortium that would offer e-passports in India.

• Automatic Border Control Solution with ePassport
An electronic passport, personalized with biometrics attributes such as facial and fingerprint data in its embedded chip, is authenticated at a fully automated immigration control gate. A passport holder identifies himself through live facial and fingerprint authentication at the gate.

•National Identification System
An intelligent identification document used by all citizens to identity themselves whenever & wherever they might be. A smart chip containing unique biometric attribute(s) of an individual can be easily encoded and live demonstration of enrolment & live match can be conducted.

•Mobile Biometric Identification
Highly mobile and wireless handy gadget that enables instantaneous live identification of individual on the street. Highly valued capabilities for national law enforcement such as street patrol, major political events to accurately and promptly identify authorized individuals, or even at crisis management, casualty sites, etc.
