NEC MultiSync® EA221WM – excellent picture quality with low total cost of ownership and environmental credentials

SINGAPORE – 13 October, 2008 – With the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM, NEC is proud to present a widescreen model in its new "Enterprise Advanced" NEC MultiSync® EA series. As a successor to the popular NEC MultiSync® 70 series, the 22" display offers outstanding picture quality as well as advanced ergonomics. In addition, the new product offers even better performance with its efficient use of energy and resources, excellent economy and low environmental impact. In addition, the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM is equipped with an integrated Carbon Footprint Meter that measures and displays the on-going saved CO2 emissions of the monitor. The NEC MultiSync® EA221WM has been particularly designed to satisfy the needs of the SMB and corporate business sectors, and is ideal for all traditional office and multimedia applications. Analogue and digital connections with HDCP, as well as USB ports, ensure the best possible flexibility and future-proofing.

The requirements of corporate business are the primary consideration of the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM. For this reason, the LCD offers excellent picture quality, outstanding technical features and a fully developed design with a particularly good cost-performance ratio. A high-quality TN panel with 160 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles ensures excellent reproduction, along with a response time of 5ms, an excellent 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution, as well as a maximum contrast ratio of 1000:1. The elegant design of the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM, along with its narrow bezel, also enables the simple tiling of multiple displays. So multi-monitor solutions at the work place or video-walls with almost imperceptible transitions are possible. Operation of the display has been optimised both for external control, as well as for use by the OSD. The OSD buttons integrated within the panel bezel underline the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM's modern design. An intuitive, menu-driven system provides the LCD display with easily-understood and uncomplicated control. To the rear of the device, 2 x 1 Watt loudspeakers have been unobtrusively fitted; although where necessary, these can also be easily switched off using the OSD. Should sound still be required, however, headphones can also be plugged directly into the monitor. The NEC MultiSync® EA221WM has been equipped with an active USB 2.0 hub for quick connection of an external memory device, whilst a handle grip at the rear of the cabinet allows easy transport of the monitor.

Saving energy and protecting the environment

New models in the NEC MultiSync® EA series also offers a range of environmental features to enable users to be more conscious in their use of energy and resources. For example, the LCD display carries EPEAT Gold (for the black version) certification. Such EPEAT certification is based on the consideration of important factors, including power consumption, use of hazardous materials, recycling, packaging and the methods of production. In addition, the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM can also operate in the effective and popular EcoMode. Here, the brightness of the display is reduced by up to 60 percent – a setting that also reduces the power consumption by at least 20 percent. The associated CO2 emissions are also similarly reduced, with the total amount of CO2 emissions thereby saved during the total running time of the monitor is indicated by the integrated Carbon Footprint Meter of the on-screen display (OSD). Naturally, the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM also fulfils all the other certifications required for the European market, such as TCO'03, Energy Star (version 4.0), Energy Label or RoHS.

Excellent working environment due to high-quality features and top ergonomics

NTAA (no-touch auto-adjustment) guarantees that the LDC display's settings are always correct. The function constantly checks and optimises the display's settings when it's first switched on, as well as during normal operation. With its sRGB support, the NEC MultiSync® EA221WM has a standardised colour space so it offers consistently accurate image reproduction. Future-proofing and flexibility are ensured by its analogue and digital (DVI-D) connections with HDCP. A range of ergonomic features also allow an excellent and productive working environment. For example, the display can be vertically adjusted by up to 110 mm, whilst the panel can also be turned through 90 degrees into portrait mode, for instance to view files and pictures in an upright format.
