Singapore 12 November 2008 – As the successor to the highly successful NEC VT projector series, NEC Asia is proud to bring onto the market three new LCD technology "all-rounder" NP models that have been designed for numerous applications. The NEC NP400, NP500 and NP600 projectors offer extensive functionality at an attractive cost-performance ratio. A key innovation with the projector series is the possibility to manage and control the devices directly over the network via the RJ45 interface. The projectors can be controlled using the Virtual Remote function, not just by using the remote control unit, but also directly from a PC using the VGA cable. With their array of automatic functions, control of the devices is particularly easy and user-friendly. Built-in Eco modes ensure a long lamp lifetime and energy-efficient operation. With a weight of only 2.9 kg the projectors are versatile in their deployment - either for use as portable devices or desktop projectors, through to ceiling mounting. They have been particularly designed with the needs of education and training facilities in mind, but are also highly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, or as projectors for everyday use within the corporate sector.
With brightness of 2,600 (NEC NP400), 3,000 (NP500) and 3,500 (NEC NP600) ANSI lumens, NECs' new projectors are particularly well-equipped for operation in teaching and meeting rooms with high ambient light levels.
The projectors' impressive and comprehensive functionality allows particularly easy control and portability. Vertical keystone correction and wall-colour correction are automatically handled, whilst the Quick start function ensures that the devices are already fully functional only eight seconds after the power is first switched on. The Auto Input function allows the projector to automatically recognise the connected signal source, whilst Auto Power On allows the device to automatically switch itself on. If the signal is interrupted, the projector is switched off. The NEC NP400, NP500 and NP600 have also been equipped with 7 W loudspeakers. An important innovation compared with the previous NEC VT series is the ability to manage and control the projector directly over a network using the RJ45 port. This means that the projectors can be centrally managed, as well as switched on and off. This is a particularly useful feature where a large number of devices have been installed. Maintenance is therefore not only much faster, but can also be more efficiently planned, since the running times and status of the individual projectors can be called up at any time.
The Virtual Remote function allows the various projector settings to be managed not only using the remote control unit, but also from the computer connected to it via the VGA cable. These include, for example, the picture and sound settings, or simply switching the projector on and off. Additional cables for the RS232 or USB ports aren't necessary. The required software - to enable control of the projector over the network or by using the Virtual Remote function - can be downloaded from NEC free of charge.
Cost-efficiency is always an important aspect within the education sector, but smaller and medium-sized enterprises also attach great importance to a low TCO. Hence NEC Display Solutions has introduced particular features into the new all-rounder NP projector series that save energy and reduce operating costs. Compared to the previous NEC VT series, average lamp lifetimes have been extended from 3,000 to 4,000 hours, whilst in addition to the Eco mode, the projectors also offer the possibility of a special Power Safe option that saves energy by only consuming 3 Watts whilst in Stand-by mode.
In order to ensure the devices' security, NEC has extended the security features of the new NEC NP400, NP500 and NP600. The projectors have been equipped with a Kensington lock connector and can also be password protected. Keypad locking also protects the devices from unauthorised access. Providing even more security, the projectors have also been equipped with a security bar that allows a cable to be attached to them, so as to safeguard against theft.
Availability and Warranty
