Singapore, 22 April 2009 – NEC Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation showcases its latest global Point of Sales (POS) terminal, TWINPOS 5500Ui at the RFID World Asia 2009, from 22nd – 24th April 2009 at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The new TWINPOS 5500Ui is one of the three TWINPOS 5000 models created to meet retail store demand for attractive next generation electronic money solutions that provide customers with instant access to cashless settlement options.
The stylish TWINPOS 5500Ui is the first product in the POS market to feature illumination lights, which helps to create a chic and tasteful atmosphere for the retailer who can choose the colors of his terminal body and side panels. Even the receipt printer can be customized to entertain customers’ eyes!
Created as a small merchant entry model, the TWINPOS 5500Ui features renowned NEC hardware reliability and enhance memory which helps to achieve stable POS operation.
The features of the TWINPOS 5500Ui are as follow:
- Catering to design conscious merchants who may select from features that include underside base‐illumination, a wide variety of side panel color options, and freedom of keyboard and display placement.
- The unit's size has been reduced to a width of 300mm and depth of 240mm by setting the motherboard housing in the rear of the display. Even when including the external receipt printer, the unit's total area has been reduced by approximately 50% when compared to earlier models (Note*1). In addition to the freedom of conveniently positioning the unit, the quality of customer service is also complemented with customized customer messages that may be viewed from the rear display.
- Electricity consumption reduced by as much as 40% when compared to earlier models (Note*2), made possible by such standby functions as CPU clock down (Note*3), and display lighting adjustments.
- Security coverage includes virus protection with the industry's first virus scanner, in addition to file/version updates that minimize system obstacles.
