Singapore, 18 January 2019 – NEC Asia Pacific recently held its “NEC Make-a-Difference-Drive (MDD)*”, which saw more than 30 NEC employees giving their time and energy to bring festive cheers to residents at Lions Home for the Elders (LHE) at its Bishan facility on 22 November 2018.
As part of NEC Asia Pacific’s CSR programme, the volunteers visited the Home and conducted a series of activities ranging from food distribution, playing interactive games and marble painting. The event ended on a high as NEC employees wished everyone an early Christmas and handed out snacks and gifts, which included daily necessities like personal mirrors and face towels, to the residents.
Ms. Doreen Lye, CEO, Lions Home for the Elders, said “We are very grateful to NEC for their continued partnership in bringing joy to our residents. LHE deeply appreciates the generosity and effort that goes in to planning such activities and look forward to seeing NEC again.”
Mr. Lim Kok Quee, Managing Director for Singapore and Deputy CEO ASEAN Sub-Region of NEC Asia Pacific said “At NEC, we believe contributing and giving back to the society is a key responsibility of a business. It heartens me to see our employees embodying NEC’s values through their actions. We are delighted to be able to deepen our involvement with LHE in 2018 and will continue to look for ways to make a difference in the local community.”
Ms. Tan Li Yun, HR Business Partner of NEC APAC and head of the organizing committee, said “I’m encouraged to see the smiles and laughter from the residents and our employees during the event. We’d like to thank LHE for the opportunity to serve and look forward to collaborating again in the future."
In recognition of its contributions over the years, NEC APAC was presented the Excellence Award by PDG Lion Mr. Bobby Eng, first Vice Chairman of LHE’s Management Board, and Guest-of-Honor Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources at the Lions Home Recognition Night on 04 December, 2018.
