NEC officially launches digital business cards of the future
Companies to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 86% compared to conventional business cards
Singapore, 17 January 2023 – NEC Asia Pacific (NEC APAC), the regional headquarters for leading information and communications technology provider NEC Corporation (HQ: Japan) in Southeast Asia, has officially launched its highly secure innovative Smart Digital Business Card solution in Singapore and across Southeast Asia and is targeted to influence more than 16,000 employees and customers in the region in the next six months to switch to digital business cards from physical ones.
With going green in mind, the solution fulfills businesses’ needs to make tangible sustainability commitments by reducing consumption of natural resources that are associated with the printing of physical business cards. Earlier this year, NEC APAC conducted an internal trial and found that through the use of digital business cards companies are able to reduce carbon emissions by up to 86%* when compared to conventional business cards.
* According to NEC research
In the mobile and digital era, more businesses are turning to digital business cards to create a more efficient and environmentally-friendly way of connecting with customers and business associates.
Mr Loke Siew Yeng, Vice President of Digital Business Unit, NEC APAC said, ”As we move towards the new digital era, this is a big step forward as we aspire to digitalise our services, the way we work and engage our customers and journey towards net zero carbon emissions. NEC’s Smart Digital Business Card encourages companies to be environmentally-friendly, is device-agnostic, can be deployed quickly and allows contact changes to be made instantaneously. Most importantly, with end-to-end encryption, we ensure that all data captured in the digital business cards are safe and secure.”
With contactless transactions prioritized during the pandemic, using digital business cards that can be shared seamlessly, stored directly in the device and backed-up to the cloud will allow businesses to save valuable time spent doing manual information collection and update. NEC’s Smart Digital Business Card Solution is a solution to meet these needs. <please refer to Annex for more details>
“Having a digital name card in one’s mobile device, users no longer have to fret about running out of name cards or forgetting to bring them to an important meeting or event. It is also convenient to create and share a digital business card by SMS, email, QR code and on various social media networks via one’s smartphone. As enterprises are also boosting their presence on social media networks to reach their customers, digital business cards prove to be an effective way for businesses to engage with their customers as it provides businesses another platform to market their services,” added Mr Loke.
Users of NEC’s Smart Digital Business Card can digitally upload business card data by scanning physical name cards with their smartphones to a centralised database hosted on Cloud, and the data can be effectively managed and shared among the relevant stakeholders. In this way, organisations are able to build their corporate prospecting database. NEC’s solution also allows for seamless storing of contacts directly via QR codes on the user’s device as it is platform and device agnostic.
This solution is now available in Southeast Asia as a subscription model. Find out more about NEC’s Smart Digital Business Card here, or email sed_marketing@nec.com.sg for more information.
